The Yoga of Knowing the Self - Meditation on the Core of Being

A meditation workshop led by Dan Conrad

Sunday Feb 21, 2010 at 12:30 pm
Please arrive between 12:00 and 12:25 so we can start at 12:30.

This free workshop will last between one and a half and two hours.

This workshop will consist of a directed meditation focused on identifying the “core of being”. In addition to silent meditation the workshop will include drawing and guided visualization. There will be introductory remarks for those inexperienced with meditation, but the methods may be of interest to experienced meditators.

Dan Conrad: “I first sat zazen in 1971, and I have practiced in various situations ever since, from Tantric studies to Quaker meeting. Source texts from the Mahayana Buddhist tradition have provided reliable guidance, but I am not working in any tradition. For me every degree of ‘understanding’ is subject to questioning until validated by primary experience. This workshop presented itself to me while I was sitting recently, and I determined to present it.”

Here are some requests of participants:

Bring something to sit on in a meditative way.
Dress comfortably and warmly.

Treat meditation like swimming - do not eat for at least an hour before.
